Regular Season ties shall result in a 3v3 5 minute running clock period until a goal is scored.
- If a goal has not been score after the Overtime period the game will go to a best-of-three shootout. Each team chooses 3 players who’ll take turns attempting penalty shots. The shootout continues until there’s a clear winner. If both teams remain tied after their initial 3 shots, additional rounds are played using a sudden-death format, where each team sends out 1 shooter at a time until a team scores. Each player on the bench must participate before players are allowed to shoot again. The winner shall receive 2 points in the standings and the loser shall receive 1 point. The teams do not switch sides as they normally would in between periods.

- Each game will consist of 3 10 minute periods. The clock shall be stopped whenever the game is halted.

- The losing team must comeback to make a 4-point differential to stop the running clock.
- The winning team must remove 1 player from competition (IE and play 4 on 5) unless a 4-point differential is regained by the losing team.
- This rule does apply for the playoffs.

A game will end in a “Mercy Rule” should one team lead by 8 goals at any point during the game and two periods have been played. This rule does apply for the playoffs.

Rule 72:
- NY DEK Hockey adheres to a “zero tolerance” policy concerning physical abuse towards game officials and any perceived threat towards game officials. Referees will enforce these rules with strict and immediate compliance.
- Players, coaches, parents, and spectators may be assessed match penalties, game misconducts, game suspensions and additional appropriate penalties for violation of these rules.
- A match penalty plus an automatic three (3) games suspension will be assessed any player, coach, parent, or spectator who initiates or is involved in physical abuse with another player, coach, or game official. The referee may, if deemed appropriate, suspend the game and declare a forfeit in favor of the non-offending team.
- If a second offense occurs, the game will immediately be declared a forfeit in favor of the non-offending team.

A match penalty shall be assessed any player who:
- Leaves the player’s bench or penalty box during an altercation.
- Goes to the opposing team’s bench or penalty box to create a disturbance or engage in any physical or verbal abuse.

Any individual who violates the physical abuse rule(s) will meet a Disciplinary Committee for review of the incident and possible further disciplinary actions.
